Okay, I admit it, I have never eaten hear until tonight. Can't really believe it as I admit to being a serious foodie and lived in BR on and off several times. Never even heard of it. The food is classic Southern French. Yes I am dividing, it is not Parisian by any stretch of the word, but feels Like classics cuisine from the Southern Rhone. Seafood is the base and plan your wine accordingly. They have beef, lamb, and squab, but the bulk of the menu is really much more southern French. The restaurant is elegant, the service is fine (although upon return I would tell my waiter that I do not want to rush dinner) maybe they rush the early birds (we ordered at 6:29), but would have been happy to stay until 11:00 to finish. The rooms are elegant, the food was stellar, and service was very good, but a bit rushed. I understand that I am not the average blue hair dining there, but I enjoy a three hour meal and think that they can deliver. I admit, each course was outstanding and that is why I give it 5 stars after just one visit. I will update again when I go back next week. And yes, I will be back next week. When I get first class food, a reasonable corkage fee (I brought a 2007 Quilceda Creek Cabernet the I decanted at he for three hours), and a bill of under $100 for two, I am all in. I will be back weekly until I leave Baton Rouge. This is a step up from Mansur's or Juban's in my opinion... Elegance, service, great food and a $15 corkage fee means I will be a regular here.
The best goddamn French restaurant in Baton Rouge. Good wine selection, awesome food. Painstakingly selected ingredients, carefully prepared and lovingly presented. Its a house, and yeah a little hard to locate. But once you are seated, you will be blown away by the food. I'm impressed...

I waited a few days as I wanted to let the experience sink in rather than be rash but the longer I think about the experience, the more disapponted I am. My wife made reaervations for my birthday on Wednesday 8/6 at 7pm. We arrived at 6:55 and waited for several minutes before even seeing someone at the reservation desk to greet us. I noticed a note in the book that said "husband's birthday" but no acknowledgement occured at the greeting or through the meal. The atmosphere and the servers were pleasant but it took 45 minutes from the time we sat down till we received our first course. During that time our server let wine and water glasses go empty. I understand a leisurely pace for dinner at an elegant dining establishment, but this one wasn't worth the wait. I expected more flavor from our soups and the entrees, while attractive and enjoyable, lacked the oh wow factor of other restaurants on their level. Bottom line is we couldn't wait to get oit of there after a long and boring dining experience.

Probably the best restaurant in Baton Rouge!! I can't imagine many other restaurants in the area being better than Maison Lacour. It is a small, quiet, and relatively unknown place. My friend told me to meet her yesterday evening early for dinner b/c they have an early dinner menu that is only $28 for a 4-course meal. Otherwise the dinner menu is expensive ($30-40 per entree). The service here is first-class. Our server did a wonderful job. We didn't have to ask for much as she was always a step ahead of what was anticipated. Everything we had was truly delicious and amazing!! Had the soup Jacqueline (the best soup I've had in a long time). This soup is made with crabmeat, asparagus, and brie cheese! For my entree I had the Pork Tenderloin whch was topped with a raspberry sauce. The pork was very tender and flavorful. My friend had the Crawfish Baton Rouge. I tried some of my friend's dish and it was sooo good. The cream sauce was perfect and not too salty. The desserts were both delicious (white chocolate bread pudding and chocolate mousse). Amazing food, perfect ambiance, and wonderful service!

Quite good. We had the artichoke heart with lump crab and hollandaise and also the escargot appetizers. Both great, but artichoke wins. As many have noted, John's Favorite is outstanding as was our salmon with mustard sauce. We also had flounder en pappiotte, which was the weakest of the 3, but still good. For dessert we did a lemon theme with lemon souffles and crepes Suzette. Neither disappointed. If you like frou frou food, this is the place in BR to get it.

Maison is like a transporting Bed and Breakfast with a truly elevated dining experience. The staff is lovely and each room is awash with southern charm and taste. My duck was mind blowing and while the portion was generous, I ate every bite- greedily. The location is clearly not the fault of the owners as it is much like the movie "Up" where the little old man refuses to sell his home to the skyscraper developers eclipsing his neighborhood. Maison is transporting once inside, but is quite literally surrounded by office parks on a busy road. The mismatch does not bother your taste buds one iota however and I would return here happily. I only mention the location because one might mistakenly judge this gem unfairly due to it's neighbors, and I'd hate for anyone to miss out on that duck. Ooooweeee.

Tres Magnifique. Stopped in with a small group for desserts and an impromptu birthday party. I had the Crepes Suzette and they were splendid, suffused with warm orange liqueur. I only wish they would have served it flambe at the table to entertain the other guests in the dimly lit dining room. But no matter. All desserts were served with great efficiency by the pleasant and accommodating staff. They even served us an extra piece of dessert for the entire table to sample--their white chocolate bread pudding with whiskey butterscotch. Yum, yum, yum. The place was fairly busy for a night on which LSU football was on the television! One table of about 18 (yes, 18 around one table, it took up an entire dining room!), clearly was dominating the attention of the bustling waitstaff. Yet our servers were not at all flummoxed by our unusual request for desserts only, were eager to please, and gladly took photos of our party. There is a reason this jewel box of a restaurant has been getting rave reviews for decades.

Charming atmosphere. I wish they would tear out the carpets and put in wood floors. It's also very quiet, so don't go in there with a group of friends expecting to be loud. I had the John's Favorite. A 4 oz filet served with a jumbo lump crab served in a pastry with hollandaise sauce. The pastry was amazing! My boyfriend had the Filet Beurre Rouge served with crawfish tails in a spicy red butter sauce. The sauce was delicious and complemented the filet very well. Overall it was very good and a great place for a date night or special occasion. We had an 8 p.m. dinner reservation and the service was very friendly but slow.

Definitely one of the best kept secrets of Baton Rouge. This place screams New Orleans with being set in an old house, but lucky enough it's here! I had the duck with a raspberry sauce, the duck fell apart to the touch. We also got the chocolate sufle, very impressive height on the dessert, as well as impressive taste. A little pricey, but makes for a very romantic date that can't be offered at most Baton Rouge restaurants.

Adorable atmosphere and good food. Service wasn't bad but wasn't great either. What is up with all of the five star reviews? This is not great French food.... Wouldn't even call it very good. It is solidly good... But that is it. Food is on the bland side and not very complex. I would still recommend this place because of the quaint atmosphere and it is way better than brandt's maisonette. But if this is your idea of five star French dining then you need to get out more.

Whenever I go to Boucherie in NO, I always say to myself this is NO's Maison Lacour French Restaurant. Maison Lacour French Restaurant is that damn good. The servers are attentive and the waiting time is short. I would recommend Maison's Early Diners Special (30 dollars for a four course meal). I have a feeling Lisa J. will give this restaurant at least a four star rating.

Call ahead and make a reservation. It was a bit difficult to find due to trees up front. If you are using goggle to get there, slow down or you'll miss it. Great ambience in converted home to restaurant. Waitstaff was attentive and sweet. French bread was amazing...Very difficult to resist. Seafood crepe was tres bien. All the ingredients were fresh. Creme brulee had lightly sweet crewmembers with a mild citrus zest flavor.
Let me start off by saying I loved the environment. So cute and quaint!! We need more restaurants like that in BR. It was reaalllyyyy quiet so I think I would probably leave the kids at home next time (not to mention they don't have a kids menu). The service was great. Nice and slow. Just the right amount of waiting between courses. Now let's get to the food. The sauce that came with the smoked salmon appetizer was delish. The app itself needed some more components (egg, capers, onion etx) and the plating was a little boring. The crabmeat on top of the artichoke heart with Hollandaise was enjoyed by everyone at the table but I thought it had a fishy taste. I like that the salad that came with the entree was good. The pickled onions were a nice touch. I had the scallops as my main meal. The sauce was good but they were small and Wayyyyyyy over cooked. Personally if it was just me dining there, I would've given three stars for my personal food experience. But, everyone else in my group thoroughly enjoyed their meal. They were out of the fish that normally came in the parchment bag so they subbed in trout. Thumbs up from both the people that ate it. My children split the Veal Oscar and enjoyed it. They wanted to split a filet. Ha, maybe next time! My husband enjoyed his duck entree. All in all a good experience.

Tres tres magnifique! This place blew my mind. I found Maison Lacour mostly by accident: my family came to visit Baton Rouge and we wanted somewhere with great food that we hadn't tried yet. Maison Lacour was listed on the pricier end, but had fantastic reviews. And with good reason! Now we have been back a second time, and I can tell you it's just as good--if not better--when knowing exactly what to expect when you walk through the doors. The service is impeccable, the atmosphere is both relaxed and comfortable as well as feeling high-class. It really is like you stepped through a door into the real French roots of la Louisiane. Those commenting on the slow service may not have known that this is how restaurants with several courses work. It is supposed to be relaxed time to enjoy your friends or family--the waitress is far from inattentive: Neither our wine glasses nor our waters were ever empty. I have nothing but good to say about the service. The Food: The Shrimp Ravioli was so fantastic that we ordered it as our appetizer on both trips. The Escargot is as good as any you'll find in France. The house salad and vinaigrette is delicious. It's got pickled red onions (don't knock them until you've tried them if you think you don't like onions in your salad, both my husband and I feel that way about raw onions in our salads, but not so with these!), walnuts. Since we had four people dining each time, we got to taste many things on the menu. Personally, I had Carré d'Agneau (lamb rack) the first time and Sweetbread the second time--the sweetbread is probably the best thing I've ever put into my mouth. Other dishes our party got over the two trips included: John's Favorite (it was awesome!), Steak au Poivre (it was very good, but the other more traditionally Southern France dishes still knocked it out of the park), Flounder En Papillote, Wild Boar Chops, Crevettes Baton Rouge (spicy shirmp over angel hair pasta), and Rock Dove. As you can see, we tried a wide variety on the menu, and it was all very very good. Open your mind to possibilities, and try a little something from France! FYI: The Eva Special Chocolate Martini is absolutely to die for. Try it and you won't be disappointed. It somehow tastes like actual chocolate cake.

BATON ROUGE: Just had a lovely little lunch at a quaint, sophisticated and classy little upcoming French restaurant. Service and Ambience: (5 stars). Waitstaff was awesome in this white linen little restaurant tucked into the trees. FOOD Soupe Jacqueline: (4 stars): Brie cheese soup with lump crab and asparagus. Very savory, not overpowering with any particular flavor over another. Not thick like a chowder, but a thin, fairly smooth consistency. Pâté Chaud: (4 stars) Pork and mushroom pâté, baked into a puff pastry and bathed in this sweet port wine Madeira sauce. Simply put, it tastes like a ground beef and mushroom pot pie. The sauce was pretty good. White Chocolate Bread Pudding (4 star): This was a warm, delicious little brea pudding. The sauce was good, as was the consistency, moist and dense enough. I didn't get a heavy white chocolate taste, would have liked more of it, but it was good. House Salad (4 star: Yummy vinaigrette and delicious walnuts.
